FURTHER YOUR VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE

SPCA Volunteers can help in many different areas including upkeep of the adoption center, assisting at the thrift stores or community events, and working with our animals. Those wishing to work with the animals must go through additional training to do so. Read below to learn how you can become a Kitty Kuddler, a Bark Buddy (or both!).

Kitty Kuddler Training

As a Kitty Kuddler you are also responsible for cleaning and helping cat staff with noting behavior and any medical concerns you may encounter while volunteering.

Click here to review the current Kitty Kuddler Guide.

After you have read through the guide, please click the link below to take the Kitty Kuddler Quiz:

Once you've completed the training and passed the test, please let me know and I will update your volunteer status to "Kitty Kuddler".Once you've completed the training and passed the test, please let me know and I will update your volunteer status to "Kitty Kuddler".

Bark Buddy Training

Bark Buddies work directly with dogs at the Adoption Center. They assist staff with cleaning, walks, playgroups, dog baths, socialization, and training. Another really important aspect of Dog Buddy support is to take dogs to offsite events and showcase them.

To become a Bark Buddy, you will need to complete a 2-part training:

  1. Watch a Bark Buddy Introductory video to Canine Handling and take the accompanying quiz. Click here to watch the video.  After watching the video, click here https://forms.gle/BXBr8h5ZFizpHTki to complete the Bark Buddy quiz. Once you've completed your quiz please notify the Volunteer Program Manager and you will be contacted to guide you onto the next step.

  2. Schedule and pass the hands-on leashing and handling training and evaluation

After successfully completing both steps you will become a part of our unique Bark Buddy team of dog handlers.
